{"id":7884,"date":"2017-03-22T21:08:04","date_gmt":"2017-03-23T01:08:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paulepictures.com\/blog\/?p=7884"},"modified":"2017-03-22T21:08:04","modified_gmt":"2017-03-23T01:08:04","slug":"dr-shuntaro-hida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulepictures.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/22\/dr-shuntaro-hida\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Shuntaro Hida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><br \/>\n\u201cAs a doctor who survived the atomic bomb, I have many missions to go on.<br \/>\nTill today, I lived for that mission.<br \/>\nIf I don\u2019t continue talking about the fierce<br \/>\nand unknown diseases caused by radiation; we will not find a cure.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>..March 2017..       ..Hiroshima..<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week I received the sad news that Dr. Shuntaro Hida died at the age of 100.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hida experienced the atomic bomb when he was 28 years old, at a patient\u2019s home 6km from the hypocenter.  He treated the wounded almost immediately after the atomic bomb detonated.  He continued to treat hibakusha and other radiation affected people until the end of his life.<\/p>\n<p>I photographed Dr. Hida in 2010 at his home in Saitama, Japan.  The photograph almost didn&#8217;t happen because he had been ill with pneumonia.  Luckily he was released from the hospital on the last day of my trip.
